This photo shows the Hardwood Hammock and Cabbage Palms that is typical in the salt marshes of the lower Waccasassa River basin that empties into the Gulf of Mexico. This area is part of the Waccasassa Preserve State Park that acts a virtual nursery for snails and shellfish which are important for sustaining healthy populations of Large wading birds and many species of fish.
